This is not "the system works without internet". It is this list, which is what you need to run a full day away from the lab. Everything else still wants a network, and we say so further down.

It is a write queue, not a copy of the system. The phone does not carry your database out to the ranch — it carries the ability to write down what happened. Looking up a patient history, checking analytics or stamping an invoice still need a network, because those need the other side.

The part nobody else solves

It keeps the time it happened, not the time it uploaded

This is the detail everything else hangs from, and the one that turns a sync queue into a health record.

You drew the specimen at 9:40

Out at the ranch, no signal. The phone stamps that time right then, next to the action.

You got back at 19:15

And the queue drains on its own the moment the phone sees a network again. Nobody presses "sync".

And it also notes that this time was declared by the device, not the server. An auditor sees both: when it happened and when it became known.

And why does one timestamp matter so much?

Because a specimen has a clock on it. Pre-analytical stability counts from the draw, not from the entry: if the system writes 19:15, the potassium on that specimen looks like it was processed in time when nine and a half hours had actually passed. And in the audit log, twelve payments taken at the ranch would show up as front-desk transactions at 19:40 — all identical, all on the same minute. That is not an imprecise figure: it is fabricated evidence.

A clock is not taken on faith. The phone declares the time, and the server validates it against a sane window before accepting it. A device with its date set to 1970, or three days ahead, cannot rewrite your laboratory history.

The tube leaves the ranch already labeled

Folios are handed out in advance, like a numbered pad: the phone carries its own before heading out. That way the label you stick on the tube in the field is the final one, not a provisional one you have to replace on arrival. If the folio changed on sync, the matcher would attach that result to a different patient.

What you will not be able to do with no signal

Look up a patient history or earlier results.
Review and release results: releasing stamps the professional license number of the signer, and that is settled on the server side.
Stamp an invoice with the tax authority, which by definition needs the tax authority.
See analytics, marketplace quotes or the inventory panel.
Receive results from an analyzer: the bridge lives on the laboratory PC, not on the technician phone.

And if your problem is the connection at the front desk, not out in the field, then this does not solve it for you. Field mode is for the day that leaves the laboratory. If the internet at your own premises goes down all day, tell us before you sign — we are not going to pretend we fix that.
